I built these two instruments as a pair in the sense that Fado singing is normally accompanied by the guitarra portuguesa (Portuguese guitar) and the viola ( the Portuguese name for guitar). They both have rosewood backs, European spruce tops, ebony fingerboards, strawberry wood binding and the same decorative rope purfling with olive root around the sound hole. The finish is my usual oil mixture with French polished tops.
During five decades I have handbuilt over a thousand instruments. I continually strive to push the boundaries of what is expected in the performance of an acoustic instrument.
